Below are two emails, one that went out prior to last year’s event, and the other after:
The 9th Annual CHRISTMAS CAROLING AND LIMO PARTY occurs on Thursday December 20th and we invite you, your family and your coworkers to join us in providing a "Random Act of Kindness" to the homeless children of St. Vincent de Paul's Village!
In 1999, members of the community put their money together, rented 3 limousines, took 24 children to In-and-Out Burger and the Pacific Ocean for Christmas Caroling and a really fun time. Then on September 11, 2001 the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey lost 37 heroes that helped others without regards to themselves. In our own small way, we decided to take this CHRISTMAS CAROLING AND LIMO PARTY up another level and have ALL the children from the Village share in this celebration, to honor the legacy of these NY/NJ Port Authority heroes.
That year and every year since, over 90 children have been chauffeured in 11 stretch limousines to enjoy a wonderful evening in downtown La Jolla. http://www.philcenedella.com/html/info.html
This year is going to be special in that we anticipate serving over 100 children for the first time ever! We have also selected two single parent families for a special consideration (one lost their home due to the recent fires in San Diego, the other lost their home due to no fault of their own) and will be providing a special holiday present to each of them.
There are two ways for you to help, call Phil at 858.602.6361 to volunteer to assist on December 20th or what we desperately need are donations from individuals and companies receiving this email - which is the ONLY way this event happens each year. People like the Peterson family in Germany, the Forbes family in Detroit, the DeLapa family in San Diego, along with companies like THE LADDERS in New York City, LAWINFO in San Marcos, the University of Dayton Alumni in Ohio and the Harley Davidson HOG Group (thanks NY Myke!) all combine to make this event possible.
Due to many requests, this year we are able to take credit card payments! Any and all donations are appreciated, $40 sponsors a child, $400 sponsors an entire limousine of children!
We thank you for going to this page to send your donation: http://www.philcenedella.com/html/credit_card_pay.html

_____________________________ AFTER:
Last night over 90 children from the St. Vincent de Paul Village had the night of a lifetime because of YOU! Many of you do not even live in San Diego, but because of your involvement last night's “Christmas Caroling and Limo Party!" the night was exceptional. Have you ever been in a room with 90+ children at once?!! Although this is the eighth year of doing this event, it was as exciting as the first. Many of the children had never seen Santa Claus so the thrill of that "first meeting with St. Nick" was something magical indeed. Special Holiday spirit was enjoyed this year with the addition of Sacha Boutros (an extraordinary jazz singer!) and Joe Marillo (world famous saxophone player!) adding a musical highlight to the festivities. Below is a link to a website that has a few short movie clips from last night to give you a small sense of the craziness that included the San Diego PADRES FRIAR and his PAD SQUAD. http://www.donh.com/XMAS06/
The funniest part for me was at the end of the night as all the children were getting into the limos for the ride home, their arms stuffed with toys, blankets, Harley-Davidson items and their faces beaming with huge smiles.........................just as they were about to leave - the wonderful Krista Baroudi and her friends come running out saying: "You forgot your cookies!!!" So they ran down the street in La Jolla, Running after stretch limos of children With trays full of Christmas Cookies And I could hear the children say:
as they drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, ................and to all a good-night!!"
